Patrol Vests: FAQs
What level vests do UK police wear
UK police officers generally wear Level III/ Level IV patrol vests. Anything heavier is not usually necessary. Police patrol vests can protect against blades and smaller calibre ballistic threats. They are also lightweight, and spread the weight over your body. This makes them ideal for long patrols.
Is a police patrol vest the same as a bulletproof vest?
Police patrol vests are overt tactical vests that are designed to be resistant against sharp threats. Although patrol vests can be fitted with bullet resistant armour plates, most police vests are fitted with soft armour, as it is lightweight and can successfully protect most threats officers would usually come across.
